Update: Wednesday, October 12, 2022
4:30 p.m.

We are pleased to provide the update that power at The Glenview has been restored through Florida Power & Light. We are no longer relying on generator power, but instead, connected to with FPL as normal.

Since Hurricane Ian made landfall in our area on Wednesday, September 28, The Glenview at Pelican Bay has worked hard to ensure the continued safety, well-being and comfort of all of our residents and employees. Regular communication and updates have been shared regarding the status of the community.

The Glenview executive leadership continues to be in communication with our residents and staff on a daily basis to provide updates related to their daily routines, areas of the community that have been impacted by the storm, clean-up and recovery efforts, and other pertinent information.

In addition to sharing plans and status updates with our residents and their families via daily communication, The Glenview has stayed in close contact with the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), keeping AHCA apprised of our situation and our plans for restoring power. Daily reports are provided, and AHCA representatives have been onsite to check on residents and the administration, specifically of our health center, Premier Place. They have advised on improvements we can make to ensure safety and comfort for residents, and we are following all recommendations to ensure the best possible environment for our residents during this time.

While these frequent internal communication efforts will continue, there will be less frequent updates here on our website, as the overall state of our community is good, and there are fewer changing reports to share.

Emergency contact methods (pendants, pull-cords) remain available to all residents, as well as open communication with staff at our front desk.

If you have any further questions or concerns, you may send a TEXT MESSAGE to The Glenview Emergency Hotline – 239-571-1012 – and you will receive communication by text. As of now, this is a text-only communication line. The Glenview staff can relay messages from this line to residents if needed.

Monday, September 26, 2022

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ian is on a trajectory to approach the US coastline this week. We all must once again consider preparation for the worst-case scenario.

The Glenview has a Hurricane Preparedness Committee that meets monthly throughout each hurricane season. On Friday, September 23, there was a special meeting that specifically discussed this storm. We have created some solid plans concerning sheltering in place or evacuating in extreme conditions. Our plans range from Resident care to supply inventory to building preparation to transportation and shelter arrangements. As of Monday, September 26, The Glenview plans to shelter in place. This plan is based on the latest weather information and on Hurricane Ian’s progression path.

Although we strive to prepare everything we can so that our residents don’t have to, there are still a few things that residents can do to prepare for these types of storms. A Hurricane Preparedness Checklist for Residents has been provided to our residents as a guideline to help them in making their preparations.

As the storm develops, we will continue to communicate any updates concerning storm preparations and storm path.

If you have questions or concerns, please call the LCS Hotline: 888-214-8464.
